Over the past few months we've spent some time recording 2 new songs, "Go On" and "All The Things You Know" and have posted them on myspace. "All The Things You Know" features LENKA, an amazing talent out of Sydney. We had an amazing time working with her and can't thank her enough. Check out her music.

In search of a new guitarist

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that we have not gone anywhere. It's been a good chunck of time since you've heard from us so I thought I would give an update. The masterful Joe Walker has moved on from Blue Judy and we are currently in the pursuit for a new lead guitarist. We've auditioned a few and plan on auditioning many more so if you know of anyone interested, please send them our way at bluejudy@bluejudy.com

In the up-coming weeks we will be posting 2 new songs on myspace and snocap for your downloading pleasure. We've been hard at work recording and mixing this summer with the help of a few friends who we can't thank enough. One track features an amazingly talented guest artist who we were thrilled to work with and the other brings the rock like none other. Keep your eyes and ears peeled.

So as we finish the recordings and audition guitarists please sit tight and before you know it we'll be playing many many shows this fall.

Arctic Monkeys

So last night Annie and I went to the taping of the Jimmy Kimmel show. I heard that the one and only Arctic Monkeys were going to be on, and we were able to get tickets even though it was last minute. We had to sit through an interview with Sanjaya Malakar from American Idol, but it was all worth it to get to see the lads on stage. I was hoping for maybe 2 or 3 songs, but they played a mind blowing 11 songs for audience. Awesome! Here is Brianstorm.

Oh man there has been so much good music lately. Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Bright Eyes, and Modest Mouse plus Arctic Monkeys coming out soon. Wilco also has a new one out in a few and they have a free download on their site. Go here and listen. Simple but great if you ask me.

I Love Rhapsody

I signed up for Rhapsody's subscription music service a few weeks ago. Good lord. The amount of music I'm listening to now is mind-bottling. Nearly every day, I'll look up some artist I've never heard before and check out their latest album. And I can finally take care of all that other music of which I've heard embarrassingly little (Johnny Cash, Beck, The Cure, John Coltrane, and on and on). Coupled with my Last.fm account, this is the best access to music I've ever had.

In other news, I discovered that there are eight full-size billboards at the intersection where I work, Venice and La Cienega. I only noticed because I was suddenly surrounded by Shrek characters on my walk across the street to Subway the other day. Every single one of those eight billboards is currently advertising the new movie. 'Twas a bit creepy.

The Beatles - LOVE

Hello All-

So it has been a while since my last post, due mostly to the fact that I didnt know my username. I have obviously found it though, so lets do this.

The best thing I have done if forever is to go see the Cirque du Soliel show LOVE featuring the music of the best band in the history of the universe DA BEATLES. My best gal got us tix for X-mas and I was drooling with anticipation for months. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait. Just fantastic. The show was in Vegas, which always makes for an interesting trip. We saw a bride coming out of the Golden Nugget in her wedding dress holding two cans of bud light in one hand. Classy. Anyhow if you get a chance go to the show. It is worth it. Also, we will be playing the next few Saturdays at the Mint, so come check us out.

Let it be known that we have new shirts on the way. They're gonna be nice American Apparel shirts. They will feel (Borat voice) "very nice" on your skins, they'll make you look like an American Apparel model, and we have high hopes that the design will look really cool as well. They should be in our hands in a couple weeks, so get yourselves excited.

Multi-Instrumentalist?

I just took up two (2) new instruments over the weekend: electric bass and alto sax. Got a Fender P-Bass from a good-looking coworker, and I finally got reeds for the sax I bought 2 years ago.

I intend to make rapid progress on both instruments. I know a bassist who plays in a band with me, maybe he can teach me a thing or two. I've already played a few notes on the sax as well: B, twice yesterday and twice today, and A, once today.

I'm not sure what kind of proficiency is required to achieve multi-instrumentalist status, or from how many instruments, but at least I'm on my way. Blue Judy had a group vocal lesson last week to work on harmonies, so I'll mark that one down too.

Recording

After many requests to get recordings of a few new/old songs, we finally started recording last weekend. Joe and I tangled ourselves into the twilight zone with mic cables and recorded drums for "Go On" and "Real Thing." Over the next two weeks its a goal to get these finished and on myspace for your listening pleasure so stay tuned for the ride of your life.

Karaoke Madness

I went out to karaoke the other night. It was not at all what I was expecting. I guess real karaoke involves renting a private room for your party rather than singing in front of a bunch of strangers at a bar. I may be in a performing band, but I'm no solo singer, so that was nice.

Ours was a party of eight, at least one of whom was sober, and we sang our hearts out for three hours straight. I was in a mood that compelled me to slam my fists on my thighs to the beat, so now I have bruises all over my legs. On top of that, my signature headbang was unstoppable. It involves something like forward and backward on eighth notes and side to side on eighth note triplets at the same time, all as hard as I possibly can. Now I can't move.

In hindsight, I probably should have done that Korn song with all the animal noises. I do a mean Korn animal noise.

Tight Pants

I bought a bunch of clothes at Ross DFL yesterday, including the tightest pair of jeans I've ever owned. While that's not a significant statement in itself, and they're not ball-crunching or anything, they still might be the tightest pants in all of Blue Judy. I'll compare with Goose and Luke at our next show. Brian's out of the running; his legs are so skinny, it's like wrapping a flagpole with a parachute.

Blue Judy on TV... SiTV

So last night the Blue Judy boys and special guests made their way down to our friend's house in Redondo Beach to watch our television debut on SiTV's show, "Jammin". Kind of knowing what to expect after watching the Upground episode, it was still a litte nerve-racking not knowing how it was going to turn out. After some delicious Italian food we settled down to watch ourselves on our friend's big screen, and what was anticipated as maybe being a painful experience turned out to be an enjoyable one. The show's editing and production was really cool, and most importantly the music sounded tops. It was really cool to see us interacting with John Densmore, and hearing him say some nice things about us was really amazing. We really enjoyed the episode and hope to find a way to bring it to all of you who don't have SiTV. In the meantime you can visit the show's website at www.sitv.com/programs/jammin.

So it has been a pretty nice one up here in Seattle. I made the annual rounds, going to all my friends' houses dressed as Santa. Sadly, my little brother did not come along as the elf this year (tear). I really enjoy seeing friends and family during the holidays, and I hope you all are getting to do the same. I Love Last.fm

Hiyo,

So I finally discovered this website, last.fm. I heard about it quite a while ago, but only started using it during the last few weeks, and I absolutely love it. The premise of the site is that it tracks all the music that its users play on iTunes. From that info, you can view recommendations from users with similar listening tastes to yours or check out other artists similar to your favorites. They allow any user to tag an artist as a specific genre, so you can finally learn what terms like grindcore and post-hardcore mean.

If you're already a user, or if I've convinced you, check out Blue Judy's page or my personal page, see who's listening to us or what I'm listening to. Maybe put our tunes on silent repeat overnight to pad our total plays.
